DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT THE NORTH TONAWANDA BOTANICAL GARDEN ORGANIZATION (NTBGO)?
NTBGO was established as a 501(C)3 in 2018 with the mission to preserve and enhance the garden as a cherished green space for the community, along with educating residents on ecological conservation, native plant restoration, water-wise gardening, pollinator protection, and sustainable land management.
We were honored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas 2024 as Non-Profit of the Year for our dedication to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
We were spotlighted by the Buffalo News:
“Add North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens as one of the top area places to visit. This little-known public garden is not only a scenic community destination along Tonawanda Creek – part of the Erie Canal – but an 11-acre hub of sustainability education, focusing on native plants and pollinators, clean water practices, and sustainable gardening.”
Our garden stands as a living testament to the beauty and diversity of plant life, where nature, learning, and discovery intertwine.  We partnered with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to propagate and plant Submerged Aquatic Vegetation to improve water quality in the Erie Canal, creating a vital natural habitat for fish and invertebrates to shelter, feed, and reproduce.  Our DEC partnership also provides the Purple Martin array for these birds to have a safe nesting site, attracting vital pollinators to the garden.
